Over 81,000 cases of cancer diagnosed in the Czech Republic in 2013
12.11.2015 - A total of 81,541 eole were diagnosed with cancer, and there were 26,944 cancer deaths in the Czech Reublic in 2013. The revalence of cancer atients reached 518,667 as on 31 December 2013, Czech Minister of Health Svatoluk Nemecek said today. There is sace for further imrovement in cancer care, such as the availability of cancer care in secialised centres, which varies among regions.

Cancer in the older population of the Czech Republic 27.10.2015 - Poulation ageing has become a challenge to cancer care in develoed countries. Particularities of the older oulation must be taken into account when considering cancer treatment. However, there is a lack of consensus on guidelines for this oulation due to the underreresentation of older atients in clinical trials.

Another international study confirmed longer survival of Czech cancer patients
05.12.2014 - Over the last 15 years, the Czech Reublic has been closing the ga on Western Euroe in terms of 5-year survival rates in selected cancer tyes, and nowadays is significantly beyond the average of other ost-communist countries. The latest results from the international study CONCORD-2 have again confirmed this trend.

Czech Cancer Care in Numbers: a brief summary 08.10.2014 - A comact descrition of cancer care in the Czech Reublic was resented at the ESMO 2014 Congress in Madrid, Sain.

Survival rates of Czech cancer patients have improved 13.04.2014 - Earlier this year, two studies analysing survival rates of cancer atients in the Czech Reublic and across Euroe were ublished. Survival rates of cancer atients belong to key arameters in terms of evaluation of cancer care outcomes, and of fulfilling the National Cancer Control Programme.

New way to finance the treatment of cancer patients
01.03.2007 - On 26/02/2007, Jiri Vorlicek (President of the Czech Oncological Society) and Pavel Horak (President of the General Health Insurance Office) concluded the so-called "Agreement on Understanding", which is regarded as a historical milestone in the Czech oncology. Jiri Vorlicek assumes that other health insurance offices will join this initiative soon.
